About

Shmuly Yanklowitz argues that the political discourse in America has proven itself too weak and too divisive to heal societal fractures and solve crucial moral problems. Rather, we should strive to change the world from the inside-out (starting with our character). Shmuly has been thinking about, and working on, character development for decades. He received his Masters degree from Harvard University and his Doctorate from Columbia University both in Moral Development (a combined psychological and philosophical approach to character development). He has written dozens of books on ethics and has served as a speaker at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Here, at Thrive By Character, Shmuly offers wisdom and tools for how we can actualize our unique potential and impact our communities and society at large with a character-centered approach.
